Altered Book Show, San Francisco, California
This weekend be sure to check out the third annual Altered Book Show in the Bay Area. Over 150 local artists have incorporated books into their artwork. Not just for reading, these books have been transformed into sculptures, installations, jewelry and more. There is also an ongoing silent auction through May 26. Atlas Obscura Day, Brooklyn, New York
Atlas Obscura may have originated in Brooklyn, but Obscura Day, their yearly celebration of unusual places is international. This Saturday, April 28, partake in community-driven guide to the world’s hidden wonders. Activities include tours, hikes, workshops and more. VegFest 2012, Novi, Michigan
Bring an open mind and an appetite to VegFest in Novi this Sunday. The food festival promotes vegetarian and vegan lifestyles by showcasing the advantages of a plant-based diet. Produced by VegMichigan, the expo will provide food from over 50 local restaurants, cooking and food demonstrations, and include guest speakers Human Society of the United States President Wayne Parcelle and author and activist Dr. Richard Oppenlander.
