Much to our dismay, skin problems never really go away. Countless years of product testing in our home bathrooms has left us with an abundance of plastic tubes and tubs of unused products. Our answer to the countless drugstore runs? Go natural! We’ve rounded up a list of eight skin care remedies that all have ingredients you can actually pronounce—let alone eat! So the question is, what sweet concoctions are sitting in your kitchen that are perfect to exfoliate, tone and soothe your skin? Read on to find out.

1. Honey and Avocado Moisturizing Mask

Honey, by itself is intensely moisturizing so it’s a no brainer that paired with a rich and creamy fruit like avocado, the results can be super hydrating. Apply this mashed mixture to the skin for about an hour and remove with warm water to reveal soft and smooth skin. Plus, honey is anti-microbial which works well for dry skin sufferers with bouts of acne!

2. Basil Tea Toner

Washing your face only removes so much of the dirt that can lead to acne and blemishes. Take your cleansing all the way home by incorporating a facial toner. Basil is an all around skin rejuvenator with its natural antiseptic and antibiotic qualities. To make your own basil tea toner, steep fresh basil leaves in boiling water and let cool off. Once the liquid is room temperature, spritz some on your face and use a clean cotton ball to swipe up any loose dirt or bacteria.

3. Oatmeal and Onion Clear Skin Treatment

Despite making you cry, onions can make you look and feel better. They contain flavonoids which work together with Vitamin C to keep your skin healthy. And both onions and oatmeal have anti-inflammatory qualities that calm the skin and promote healing. Pulse oatmeal and onions with water into a paste and apply generously to the skin. Wash off with warm water and repeat weekly for a clear complexion.

We all know that eggs are known for their high protein content, but did you know that these same proteins can help reduce pore size when applied to the face? It’s true! Take one egg, break and separate the yolk out. Beat the egg white until frothy and spread it evenly onto your skin. Add lemon juice for a brightening element. Once dried, simply wash it off. Your skin will feel instantly tighter and less oily.

5. Coconut Oil and Tea Tree Aftershave

Coconut oil is touted as the miracle oil since it is full of moisturizing good fats, anti-fungal properties, and provides light sun protection of harsh UV rays. 6. Lavender Bath Salts

8. Garlic and Molasses Scalp Treatment

    Good information! Thank you for sharing 8 Natural Skin Care recipes good enough to eat remedies with us. I assure u that, i will definitely follow Natural Skin Care recipes. But now i am using Anni Mateo natural anti aging cream and its beneficial for my glowing skin.

    These are all lovely recipes for natural skin care but may I suggest tweaking the lavender bath Salts just a tad by using Epson Salts (Magnesium Sulfate) versus the sea salt. There is not much that is actually absorbed by the skin, but MgSO4 is and quite readily. Most of us don’t get enough in our diets and this is an excellent way of acquiring it. Magnesium is essential for muscle relaxation so it is perfect to pair with lavender.
