Pee-wee’s Big Adventure was a childhood staple of mine. Marking it’s 30th anniversary, L.A. Weekly revisited the film’s locations—almost all of them in Southern California. This fun photo essay is a great throwback at the local landmarks of the Golden State and of course, Pee-wee’s adventures. – Vee

A 3-D Printed Clothing Line

Sometimes technology scares me. After hearing about how everything from tools to organs can be 3-D printed, its a pretty freaky age we live in. But seeing this clothing line entirely coming from a computer was a different experience: designer Denit Peleg designed and printed her entire collection at home, with amazing results. Using a specific and carefully researched material, the fabric flows in a way unlike anything else I’ve ever seen. After all of the design and planning that went into it, the printing of the collection took around 2,000 hours, so it’s not like it’s a huge shortcut from hand-assembling. While I loved watching the process of the clothes being made, the coolest part is when the designer addresses the potential for people to design/print their own clothes in the future. One of my favorite things going on right now is how young brands are inviting you into their work spaces to meet the team, check out their vibes…and well just hang out. This week the clothing and accessory company Everlane hosted a happy hour with Edible Schoolyard NYC for a good cause while serving up summer cocktails. My favorite of them all? Glossier and their Summer Friday open office events. On Friday’s this summer you can swing on over to their offices and hang out, slap a face mask on and lounge outside with your pals. Today they even have a team from a salon their to braid your hair. I mean…I think everyone loves having their hair braided so this is the perfect Friday activity after such a long hot week in NYC. See you there? – Chrissy
