My favorite thing to do is bump Drake jams and dance in my bedroom by myself. After reading that last sentence, I realize that maybe I should reevaluate my 2016 resolution and perhaps try to be more social. But for now, I’ll stick to finding exercises that’ll help keep me energized and motivated throughout the day.
I’m a morning person, so I tend to to be a bundle of sillies until lunch time and then quickly crash into cuddle mode around 3 pm. My goal for this year is to find quick (and healthy) ways to boost my energy in order make it through the day. Hoping to have as much perk in the afternoon as I have when I’m rolling out of bed, I’m coming for ya, 2016.
1. In-Office Exercises
If you find yourself getting sleepy eyes at work after staring at your computer for a few hours, there are a bunch of quick and easy stretches and exercises for you to do right at your desk to get that blood flowing. It’s important to make sure that you move around throughout the day so you don’t catch a case of the sleepies. If you feel self-conscious about doing stretches at your desk, get your co-workers to join in so it’s a group activity that will benefit the whole team. Rather than taking coffee breaks, I’m going to start taking deskercise breaks! No need for caffeine when I can get pumped up by moving my body!
2. Post Work Dance Cardio
Since I already love shakin’ my groove thang, it makes sense to do so in a controlled environment where an instructor is working me out in the most efficient way possible. While jumping around and striking a late 90’s Britney Spears dance move from time to time gets my heart rate up, the guidance of someone who is actually certified in health and exercise will definitely be helpful. Normal forms of exercise are a drag for me, but new classes like pop star fitness and a burlesque workshop get me excited to head to the gym. I know that if I head straight to one of these fun dance classes, I won’t end up heading home and crashing on my sofa. Being able to stay awake so I can enjoy some hobbies will be a win!
3. Getting That Mind and Body In Sync
Much like Krrb team member Lauren, I get pretty slouchy when sitting in my chair at work or while hanging out at home. Being in a hunched position instantly decreases my energy and makes me feel more tired than I should be. Bettering my posture with the help of her tips will keep me more alert throughout the work day. Activities like yoga will also help get my mind to be tuned into my body. A healthy mind is the key to having a healthy body. When one’s head is clear and filled with positive thoughts only, it allows for a more energized and productive day! By having my yoga mat easily accessible and ready to sling on my shoulder, I’ll be all ready to do some poses that are meant to boost your energy!
4. Heading Outside
I know, I know- it’s cold in the winter and being motivated to spend time outdoors isn’t always at the top of the list when a cozy blanket and Netflix is awaiting me in bed. Although I love a good binge watching session, there’s nothing I hate more than feeling groggy. The best way to increase your energy ASAP is by getting outside and letting mother nature do the trick. Whether it’s stepping out for a brisk walk or going for a run- you and I will both need to have our ultimate “pump up” playlists ready! I’m personally a big fan of rap when I need to get in the zone so this runway stomping playlist is enough to get me out the door and on the go!
