Brett Bara is facing the ultimate design challenge — moving in with a significant other. The DIY crafty author is making room in her Greenpoint apartment for her boyfriend and that means some of her DIY projects are moving out. Up for grabs is an ornate chair Brett experimented with painting both the wood and fabric.
On top of mixing styles with her beau, Brett is also busy launching Brooklyn Craft Company, a creative studio for taking craft classes of all kinds. Born out of her popular Brooklyn Craft Camp days, the new class space is located in Greenpoint’s Pencil Factory with plenty of room for every kind of craft imaginable — from lamp building to perfume blending to traditional needlework. The majority of the classes are project-based and include materials, tools and instruction. Skill-based classes are also available.
With 20 sewing machines allocated to students, look forward to plenty of sewing events and workshops where you can make your own dresses in the near future.
This Saturday, January 18, Brooklyn Craft Central is having an open house with free knitting lessons. And keep an eye on Brett’s Krrb corner for other stylish castoffs soon to come.
