Here at Krrb we’re constantly immersed in the latest design trends and we’re not mad about that! Often times there are some trends that we come across that we can’t seem to agree upon. Today Chrissy and Lauren check out what creative people are doing with bold wallpaper and decide if they love it or leave it.

Wallpaper can be a touchy subject. At one point, there was definitely a stigma attached to wallpaper that it was old and tacky (not to mention a pain to hang and nearly impossible to take off). But that’s not the case anymore—artists everywhere are producing awe-inspiring prints that are easier than ever to display in your home whether it’s for a year or a decade. Take a look at different ways that people are using wallpaper in their homes today and decide for yourself if it’s a hit or a miss.

How this homeowner ever leaves the bathroom is beyond me. I love everything about this wallpaper; it adds a great punch of visual interest and helps define the space in the window recess. The designer was smart to add minimal extra accents, which lets the wallpaper be a standout while maintaining balance. If white and warm metals are a match made in heaven, then this is the holy grail of bathroom design. – Lauren

I’ve always been a fan of accent walls in a room and what makes them even better? If they’re accented by fun wallpaper rather than paint! I love the way that this wallpaper fits perfectly into this nook, which serves as a media unit. I also like how the rest of the walls are very white, so the wallpaper definitely grabs all the attention of the eye. I don’t know if I would necessarily put such a busy pattern behind my TV because it would be hard for my eyes to focus. That said, I would definitely use something like this as a backdrop for framed photos and tchotchkes. – Chrissy

Black and white graphic prints will always have my heart, especially when in such a bright, light filled kitchen. The wood and bright colors help warm the room up, and the wallpaper helps guide your eye to that awesome ceiling detail. Without the wallpaper, it might just be a plain-looking white kitchen, but the bold flowers bring a cool and contemporary edge. Stylish, but totally comfortable and approachable.- Lauren

Choosing the right print for your space and aesthetic can be agonizing. This large print with bold, yet soft colors goes perfectly with the rustic wood dining table and chairs. Not this brave? Pair a larger pattern with a white backdrop if you’re a wallpaper newbie. This will allow you to enjoy the pop of personality without being completely overwhelmed by it. – Chrissy

For me, this seems like a clash of two very different design styles. The bed feels calm and traditional, and the wallpaper is definitely more modern. Like Mentos and Coke, both are cool on their own, but borderline destructive together. You don’t need to strictly adhere to one design style, but the cream and blue flowers don’t seem to want to cooperate with the wallpaper. I call for a design divorce. – Lauren

Out with the carpet runners and in with the wallpaper! I absolutely love this clever use of pattern in an unusual spot. They opted for a traditional wallpaper print, but you could choose any type that you want to accent your stairway. If you have steps leading up to your bedroom, choose something that will put you in that dreamy mood. – Chrissy
