When it comes to the third largest city in the country, there’s a lot going on. No one knows Chicago best like local bloggers. They are out in the neighborhood taking in the latest trends and reporting on on all that makes Chicago a special place to live. Here are some great blogs for you to check out that have local flavor as well as great inspiration for new projects. Add these to your list!

One of my personal favorites, Amelia Chanam Eaton began her blog The CHICago Life in 2012. It began as a personal blog and is now the go-to spot on the web for all things Chicago style and DIY. This blog still maintains its personal touch, giving a look into people’s lives with house tours and interviews. Check out their “Chicagoans” section where locals give you a look into their home.

If this blog isn’t on your list of must-reads already, it should be. House of Hipsters is a local lifestyle and home décor blog written by Kyla. After reading just a few posts of hers, you realize that Kyla is someone you’d like to befriend someday really soon. Not only does she have an eye for design, but her occasional DIY posts will leave you wanting more. My recommendation is to try the Marble Dipped Mug project if you have a little extra nail polish around. It is so cute and so simple!

The NeoTraditionalist

Between her eye for design and learning more about her beloved pug Alfred, it’s hard to pinpoint what I love most about Katie’s blog. You even can find inspiration here to style your own bedroom and spruce up your wardrobe with the latest trends. Scrolling through The NeoTraditionalist blog will make you feel like you are browsing through the pages of a vintage magazine with a modern twist. In doing so, I’m certain you’ll fall in love with Katie’s style.

This blog is Chicago. It has all the local vibes you would expect but with a stylish touch. Blair seamlessly combines great photos with a personal touch that’s easy to connect with. From fashion tips to lifestyle advice, The Fox and She is one blog you’ll want to follow daily. Most recently Blair wrote about creating a better experience for guests in your home, and it had me wanting to redo my guest room ASAP!

Yellow Brick Home

After purchasing a fixer-upper house in Chicago, Kim and Scott have dedicated their blog Yellow Brick Home to all things DIY. And they hold nothing back, sharing their ups-and-downs of remodeling and giving tricks of the trade. As someone who has had my own fair share of home improvement projects, I find this blog to be easily relatable and a good source of information when ready for my next project. While you are there, check out their Print shop and see some of the items available for purchase, including a few photos of Chicago.

Making It Lovely

There are many DIY and design blogs out there, all of which post fabulous photos of the final product. But how many show you the true transformation? The blog Making It Lovely makes you feel like you’re on the journey with Nicole herself, and you experience how living spaces can be truly transformed. I loved following her story of “The First House” and seeing all of the nice and neat little touches that make the space so lovely. If you’re going to add just one blog to your list, this is one to consider.

  • Thank you so much for including us in the round-up! What great company we’re in. Chicago has our hearts, and that deal was sealed when we purchased our big fixer upper two years ago. We’re in it for the long haul – winters and all! (But lucky us that Chicago summers are the world’s greatest!)
