You know how it is when you stumble upon something that is so bright and happy and alive that you find yourself reading or watching with the doe-eyed interest of your yesteryear’s? Well, that’s what happened when we were sent a link to Jessi Arrington’s Hole Sale, part community stoop sale, part fundraiser, part parade, part Birthday Party for the host, Jessi herself
As Jessi puts it, it’s time for her to clean out some of the 500+ items in her closet and so she has decided to turn her Birthday Party, this Saturday, April 16th, into a big stoop sale called the Hole Sale, for what we assume is named after the structure where it’s held. She’s also inviting you to come with your own stuff to sell. Sales will benefit the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls scholarship fund who provides opportunities for girls to rock out.
I’m Jessi, and I love second-hand shopping almost as much as I love rainbows.
Jessi and her pals are also accepting donated items to contribute to the sale as early as 10am. At 1pm, there will be a performance by Rock Camp alum, 12-year old Bey Redding, and at 2pm the Rainbow Parade launches, lead by the Raya Brass Band. By 4:30pm, we expect everyone to be glassy-eyed with rainbow glitters just enough to float themselves into the after party at Superfine, one of DUMBOs best restaurants and fun-places.
I mean seriously, you must admit Archways look suspiciously like rainbows, and with all the full-on goodness we’re planning to put in this Bridge Hole, I wouldn’t be surprised if we experienced a unicorn sighting or two.
This fantastic party will be held in the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, made especially easy by partnering with the fine folks of the DUMBO Improvement District. If you plan to attend and want to partake in the Rainbow Parade, they suggest that you dress in one color, head-to-toe, because you’ll be on theme, and make Jessi’ year.
Jessi, you make Lisa Frank oh so proud.
