With the recent addition of the Brooklyn Flea to Williamsburg and Artists & Fleas’ semi- new location at North 7th at Kent, this corner of Brooklyn is quite the busy little hub for vintage, secondhand, handmade, and locally-made delicious food
Brooklyn Flea, regarded as an incubator for independent businesses, and the go-to-spot for munch on the weekends with tasty morsels by established restaurateurs like David Chang, Brooklyn Fish Camp and Porchetta, made its entry into Williamsburg this weekend. This is their 4th year in business, having previous markets in Fort Greene, the West Village and even managing the concession stands at the City’s SummerStage concert series in Central Park. You can catch them on Sundays on North 7th St and the water and on Saturdays in their flagship location in Fort Greene with their 200-ish vendors.
Artists & Fleas, one of the first markets in Brooklyn, have been doing their thing in Williamsburg since 2003, housing around 40 vendors specializing in vintage clothes, handmade jewelry and designed products. They also offer burgers and tacos, the perfect nosh to keep up the thrifting momentum. Looking for some action during the week? The Artists & Fleas’ blog is a fun resource for what’s happening on the scene.
The combination of these stellar markets will surly be a major draw to all thrifters, scavengers, eaters, buyers, and browsers.
…things are about to get groovy for the whole culture of artists, designers, fleasters, foodies and the cult of fans and fan boys that loves to shop them. – Ronen Glimer of Artists & Fleas
We too are excited to see the result of this hotbed, especially placed in the creative space for which Williamsburg has become known. We stopped by both markets this weekend and snapped a few shots to share.
Expect more detailed profiles on the awesome vendors that make these flea markets the amazing destinations they are.
