If you’re going to party like it’s 1999, em, 2015 on December 31st—you need the proper attire. I believe it’s actually a law that you must wear something sparkly and glittery on New Year’s Eve. Keep that in mind as you pull together an outfit that says celebration, whether you’re out dancing the night away or curled up on the sofa watching the ball drop in Times Square.

The key to a good New Year’s Eve outfit is equal parts comfort and sass. You don’t want to start 2015 with blisters on your feet so leave the heels at home. A pair of gold studded flats from BCBG ($50) are easy on the toes but still feel fun and special. Layer up for a chilly night with a statement swing coat ($458). And while you’re at it, don’t spend the whole night fussing with a clutch. This rocking purse ($25) has a cute handle to free your hands for a glass of champagne or two.

Still not sure what you’ll be wearing on New Year’s Eve? Bernadette of Faith Boutique & Antiques has done the work for you. This fashion consultant layered a mink stole over a sequined frock and finishes the look with a secondhand silver belt. The whole outfit is available on Krrb for $120. With all the sparkly elements of your outfit, you don’t really need too much in terms of jewelry. Pin this vintage Art Deco brooch ($45) to your coat to pull the outfit together.

However joyous your New Year’s Eve celebrations are, have fun with your outfit. The right garb can have you living it up through 2016!

Ring in the New Year with a little sparkle!
