If you ever find yourself leafing through the pages of interior design magazines oohing and aahing over the professionally styled and photographed homes, then this is the place for you! This week we’re going to be showing you how to get this mid-century look with items found right here on Krrb.

If your style is mid-century inspired, by putting a rug in a room (or even layering different rugs) it will bring warmth that may have been taken away by the more traditional lines of the furniture that you have. Since this room consists of mainly neutrals, the rug (along with potted plants, vases and other accessories) adds a welcoming focal point.

By having a shelving unit on the wall you’ve created a great place to house your television, books, frames, etc and it doesn’t take up any floor room, which allows for the room to feel larger and more open. Having multiple seating options is a plus especially if you have a large family or like to entertain. The seating in the room doesn’t have to be part of a matching set! Mix and match different styles, textures, patterns and colors to give the room more personality.

Incorporating different accent pieces into the room will help give the space more definition. By introducing things such as leather chairs, sheepskin throws or velvet pillows, the room will obtain a more livable quality!
