We’re all about recycling and reusing but sometimes you’ll find things around the house that feel like they’ve met their final days. That’s where repurposing comes in! Have some vintage dishes that’s just full of junk taking up space? Well instead of trashing the whole thing, why not turn it into something new? Start repurposing with one of these fun projects!
Chalkboard Plate Craft
Here’s a great way to let everyone in your household know exactly what time supper is! With this Chalkboard Plate Craft you can take an old vintage plate and turn it into a message board for the family! It’s a simple project and great for kids. You’ll only really need some chalkboard paint, a brush, and some masking tape. Tape off the area that you don’t want to be a chalkboard and paint the rest! It’s really that easy. Grab a plate stand and set it on the counter or hang it on your wall—just make sure it’s somewhere that everyone can see!
Vintage Plate Mirrors
Maybe you live alone and don’t need to leave messages for anyone! Well, how about these Vintage Plate Mirrors? Always make sure you’re looking your Sunday best in your new mirrors. Just pick up a couple plates, some super glue, and mirrors that will fit in the plate. Once you’ve glued the plates to the dishes you can mount them on the wall. Now you’ll always know how stylish you look!
Maybe you’re having a hard time keeping track of time. That’s where this Teacup Clock will come in handy! You’ll need to find a collection of teacups to start! Once you’ve gathered 12 teacups, buy some wood and get to work! Mount the teacups on the wood and install an old clocks mechanism in the middle. It’ll take a little work but shouldn’t be too difficult.
Upcycling Broken China
So maybe the dish you want to work with is completely broken, don’t just trash it! You can upcycle broken glass into something beautiful and new! The first and most important part of this project is to take your rotary tool and smooth all of the edges—we don’t want any cut fingers! Now that your broken glass is safe to handle you can drill a small hole, attach a metal ring, and never lose your keys again!
DIY Dinosaur Serving Dish
Finally, a really fun project for your dinosaur-loving child! This DIY Dinosaur Serving Dish is perfect for any kids party or just an afternoon snack. How thrilled will your child be when their next snack is served to them by a dinosaur? Find a hard plastic dinosaur toy, grab your saw, and get to beheading! Once that’s done, take a melamine plate and reattach the dinosaur with adhesives. After a few more steps, your dinosaur serving dish will be ready for use!
