2 Million Shoppers and a Pile of Mussels – Lille Braderie in Lille, France

The biggest antique, flea and bric-a-brac street market in Europe is held annually in Lille, Northern France. If you didn’t have a chance to wander through last weekend’s Lille Braderie, take a look at what you missed.

Over 2 million people descend upon Lille to scour high and low for one of a kind finds. Pretty much the whole city is on sale as a flurry of professional collectors, businesses and even amateurs lay out their wares.

Aside from browsing secondhand goods, the market event is know for their moules-frites tradition. Restaurants serve mussels and fries, piling the discarded shells outside for a friendly competition to see who has the biggest pile.
