When Valentine’s Day began in the High Middle Ages, it was about chivalrously expressing love and admiration. Not with generic cards and stale candy hearts but with heartfelt notes and thoughtful gifts. Every day through February 14, we’ll feature a Krrb corner with fresh gift ideas for your loved ones.
We love the crocheted jewelry from Even Howard whose designs are influenced by the woods near the San Francisco. Although Even Howard offers customized jewelry, we can’t help but fall for these one-of-a-kind baubles in rosy colors.
So, tell us about your most memorable Valentine’s Day moment.
I’m pretty sure there was one year, around 5th grade, that I not only had a perfectly decorated shoebox for receiving valentines, but there were actually nice notes from some boys *and* the candies I enclosed in my valentines were well received. (This from the child whose mother brought salty apple slices when it was treat day…) It’s a special moment when the right sentiment reaches the right person via the right means.
Childhood Valentines are the best! What is the best Valentine’s Day present you’ve ever given?
I generally use Valentine’s Day to make up for missed ideals in my winter holiday giving. This means boxes of homemade candies (earl grey truffles and salted caramels this year!) and upcycled winter scene cards become the order of the day.
Can you tell us who your lucky Valentine is this year?
My dearest and I are celebrating 5 years together this spring!
In case you missed it, here are the gift ideas from the previous days!
Day One: Friedasophie from San Francisco, California!
Day Two: Tellapress from Bushwick, Brooklyn!
