When Valentine’s Day began in the High Middle Ages, it was about chivalrously expressing love and admiration. Not with generic cards and stale candy hearts but with heartfelt notes and thoughtful gifts. Every day through February 14, we’ll feature a Krrb corner with fresh gift ideas for your loved ones.
Jewelry designer Amy Lapierre let’s her creations do the talking at Birdhouse Jewelry. Her gold and silver baubles make quite the statement piece. We like that Amy’s collections always include fun, innovative designs at an affordable price.
Hi Amy. Tell us about your most memorable Valentine’s Day moment?
A few years ago my husband Alen and I went to the Met on Valentine’s Day. We actually had forgotten it was Valentine’s Day. We had a great dinner, during the opera we (silently) shared some chocolate squares. We had figured out it was Valentine’s during the dinner. We like to repeat our accidental but special Valentine’s date every year in February.
What a great tradition. Do you remember the best Valentine’s Day present you ever gave?
I once cooked a great multi course dinner for someone as a total surprise, and it turned out great. I planned a lot, was happy none of the dishes failed. We also enjoyed some good music (it was cd’s back then). It was a great time.
So who is your lucky Valentine this year?
My husband Alen – the love of my life!
