When Valentine’s Day began in the High Middle Ages, it was about chivalrously expressing love and admiration. Not with generic cards and stale candy hearts but with heartfelt notes and thoughtful gifts. Every day through February 14, we’ll feature a Krrb corner with fresh gift ideas for your loved ones.
Today’s Valentine gift ideas come from the creative letterpress company Fine Day Press. Park Sloper Ashley Austin delivers optimistic designs through her line of handpressed eco-friendly cards. We’re fans of her simple yet clear message of love.
Hi Ashley! Can you tell us a bit about your most memorable Valentine’s Day moment?
My husband and I had a long-distance relationship when I first moved to New York, and it was really hard. He surprised me with a Valentine’s weekend visit; it was great to have extra time with him and get to show him some of my favorite parts of the city I’ve come to love.
We love a good New York romance! What is the best Valentine’s Day present you’ve ever given?
I once created a small bound book full of collages, illustrations, and silly inside jokes for my sweetie. It sounds cheesy, but unique, handmade (whether by you or someone else!) gifts are always special.
We couldn’t agree more. So who is your lucky Valentine this year?
My husband of three years, and our two kitties!
In case you missed it, here are the gift ideas from the previous days!
Day One: Friedasophie from San Francisco, California!
Day Two: Tellapress from Bushwick, Brooklyn!
Day Three: Sora Designs from San Francisco, California!
