It’s Friday and we can’t wait to unchain ourselves from our desks and get out and about. Weekend Wanderer is a new series that you’ll find every Friday morning featuring a few activities we’d like to explore. Check them out for yourself or do something in your neck of the woods. Either way, just get out and wander.
YES.OUI.SI., Boston, Mass.
We’v heard good things about YES.OUI.SI., the “clubhouse” for local artists to hang out and work on their projects. Located in the historic Avenue of the Arts, this Boston exhibition space is labeled as a multi-sensory experience because of it’s hands-on approach to artwork and the community. Their latest DIY art gallery exhibition is The Salon, an all female representation. Artists include up-and-comers Jordan Piantedosi, Lena Gustafson, Kira Leigh If you’re interested in checking out this exhibit Friday, visit Yes.Ou.Si., 19 Vancouver Street, Boston.
Mark Twain Tonight!, Los Angeles, California
After hearing about living legend Hal Holborook, it’s finally time to see him with our own eyes. Renown for his theatrical performance as Mark Twain with over 2,200 performances, the award winning actor has portrayed Twain longer than Samuel Langhorne Clemens did. Catch Holbrook’s one-man show Mark Twain Tonight! on Saturday at the Valley Performing Arts Center. No two shows are the same for the 86-year old actor who updates it according to the cultural pulse. For more information, visit Valley Performing Arts Center, California State University Northridge, 18111 Nordhoff Avenue.
Brooklyn Bottle Bowl, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for us, Giants fans. And while football is the main focus, we don’t play around with our food. Which is why we will be at the first Brooklyn Bottle Bowl. Brooklyn Winery and Brooklyn Brewery have teamed up to provide great drinks and food. A private buffet will feature steak chili, subs and finger foods. Buckets of Brooklyn Brewery beer will be on hand to wash down those chips. A photo booth and a Super Bowl Point Pool will only add to the fun. If you’re interested in reserving a table, visit Brooklyn Winery, 213 North 8th St.
