When Valentine’s Day began in the High Middle Ages, it was about chivalrously expressing love and admiration. Not with generic cards and stale candy hearts but with heartfelt notes and thoughtful gifts. Every day through February 14, we’ll feature a Krrb corner with fresh gift ideas for your loved ones.
Today’s featured baubles come from Sora Designs. Originally making jewelry was just a creative outlet for Wen Chang, but nowadays the San Francisco resident spends her days wrapping wire and transforming vintage materials into jewelry with a personal touch.
Hi Wen. Tell us about your most memorable Valentine’s Day moment?
I spent my childhood growing up in Taiwan and it wasn’t a celebrated holiday. I was in my high school years when I first received a huge rose bouquet from a secret admirer and that was a surprise I still remember years later.
I love it. What is the best Valentine’s Day present you’ve ever given?
It is a handmade keepsake box from my then-boyfriend now husband.
Can you tell us who is your lucky Valentine this year?
Of course, it’s my boy who just turned six years old.
Day One: Friedasophie from San Francisco, California!
Day Two: Tella Press from Brooklyn, New York!
